GLAMOROUS COPPER
Originally the owners were going to bring a master suite, but they then looked up and recognized that the third-floor attic, with its peaked roof and exposed beams, introduced an unusual opportunity. "The first thing we shopped for was that bathtub," says Chicago-based designer Julia Buckingham. "It is the crown jewel."
NATURAL WOOD SHIPLAP
In a Charleston guest home, the master bath's sinks are by Kohler, the unlacquered brass fittings are by Watermark Designs and the shower is wrapped in Alabama white marble. The sconces are 1930s Italian. The walls are lined in shiplap.
NAUTICAL FINISHES
For his Nantucket house's master bathroom, designer Gary McBournie picked Waterworks hardware in unlacquered brass, so that it would tarnish and age. His aim was to tie all the details back to the house's nautical feeling.
GRANDFATHER CLOCK
Fill a narrow stretch of wall mounted with an heirloom-worthy, grandfather-style clock. Today you'll learn you're running in style.
TROUGH SINK
The boys' bathroom in a Lake Tahoe house made by Matt O'Dorisio includes a large trough sink and a pendant from Schoolhouse Electric Supply & Co..
